(More customer reviews)This thing moves around so much that I don't have much confidence standing on it anywhere but directly in front of the hitch. Otherwise, you can really feel it move if you stand on the sides (with the step portion, not the steel). I used the included stabilizer bracket, but it does next to nothing. I tried some 3m tape wrapped around the stem, which helps some. I still don't know how they designed something so blatantly ill-fitting. Also, I have it mounted to a curt hitch and even on the last hole setting it barely sticks out from the bumper.
A few rain storms later...As if the wobbling wasn't enough. There must be a small hole somewhere on the step because now after each storm it fills with water. Simply shaking it doesn't drain it, so you must remove it from the hitch and remove an end cap to let the water drain out. I think it needs a few drain holes drilled but I'm not sure if I want to put holes in something I stand on.
Just a note...this is now marketed as a bumper protector, but keep in mind if someone hits you, you'll probably end up bending your hitch and mounting bolts. Removing a bent hitch is no fun.
7/2 Update-Upon smelling the rancid water inside the tube, I decided to remove it from my hitch and find the hole. I ended up removing the plastic step trim and found that the water was coming in from underneath this piece. The mounting holes on the trim go directly into the tube, so water just flows right in. I caulked the heck out of the holes and surrounding area and reattached the trim. The inside of the tube was completely rusted out already, so I suggest you look into yours before it becomes unsafe.
