(More customer reviews)This is a handly little device to convert a 2" receiver opening into a strong attachment point for tow straps, cables or chains. All heavy duty recovery straps have sewn in loops at the ends, so they almost always require the use of a D-ring shackle unless your truck and the stuck one both have open tow hooks. With this kit, you get the 3/4" D-ring that can be removed and used elsewhere, plus the insert to make connection to the receiver easier. Not only do I have one in my truck toolbox, I put one and a strap in the trunk of my wife's car in case she slides off the road...then anyone with a truck or SUV who happens by can help her out and she has all the tools required. This insert is hollow inside, and the more expensive and pretentious brands are solid, but unless you drive a truck bigger than 1 ton I don't see how you are going to break this insert. Its plenty adequate for anything with a 2" receiver. I always use mine and then put it back in the toolbox, but if you plan to leave yours on permanently, it probably will rattle inside your receiver...it fits loose. I'd give it 5 stars if the casting were a little neater and cleaner, but for its intended purpose, I rate it highly and recommend one. Much more professional tool than looping your tow strap over a 2" ball and hoping it stays on.
