(More customer reviews)ordered 2 for 2-2011 F250 Fords. Items came were in "Reese Towpower" boxes, Reese Part Number 7028700, and would expect Reese items to work as I feel Reese should be a good manufacturer. Both were too big for the hole on the trucks. Hole was exactly 2 1/2" on truck, and the reducers were also exactly 2 1/2". WITHOUT BEING A LITTLE UNDERSIZED, which is logical, they will not go in the hole, AND THEY DIDNT.
Went to my Ford dealer & he "gave" me two sleeves that fit perfectly (they had Ford part numbers on them) and he also gave me two new "longer" pins which are also needed to work.
What really dissapointing was that to get credit I would have to pay freight back, and that was as much as they cost. Seems like items that are mismade should just be thrown away by purchaser but having to pay freight coming and going made it a bad deal. And because of this did not get credit so lost it all.

The 80303 goes from 1-1/4" ON YOUR CAR and sizes up to 2" at the back end where the carrier or rack would insert. It is the part shown in the middle of the picture.

Unfortunately for me, I hadn't measured carefully enough and my receiver was just about 1/4" too long and I couldn't fit both pins in. I was more concerned about the length of the bike rack tongue than the 2" receiver I was fitting it into.
Oh well, not the fault of the seller, though. The dimensions were clearly spelled out on the product page, SO PAY ATTENTION AND MEASURE WELL!
Product itself is solid and well made.

Curt Manufacturing 45405 Ball Mount Reducer Review

(More customer reviews)Previous reviewer stated "this isn't rocket science" and he was 100% correct... A square tube that is supposed to fit into another tube. Now, his Curt may have worked for him, but the first thing I noticed was that one end of my Reducer was flared - either intentionally or perhaps a result from the original mill's manufacturing process - so it was only going to fit into the Receiver one way. Secondly, the black coating was so thick that it wouldn't simply slide into the Receiver as it was supposed to, and after reading about other online user's experiences, I learned it was recommended to sand the coating from the corners to make it fit, exposing bare steel and eventually leading to rust. HOWEVER, and most importantly, upon comparing the pin holes of the Receiver and Reducer, if I HAD gotten this Reducer into the Receiver, it would have stuck out of the Receiver by about an inch once the pin was inserted???!!! I returned this Curt Reducer and ordered one from Ford - which was a bit more expensive - but it slid right in and once I inserted the pin, was flush with the Receiver's end. After wasting time on the poorly manufactured Curt, I'm finally on to the next item on my to-do list.

The extension allowed me to move the rack back about 8 inches which was perfect for carrying the bikes w/o hitting the spare. Well made and nice looking too.

The extension of about 4" from pin-hole to pin-hole was perfect - it allows about 1" of clearance from the tire to the vertical rack post.
