(More customer reviews)I was looking for a 2 5/16 Hitch ball, a 1" shank and towing capacity of at least 10,000 lbs. This one is rated at 12,000 lbs. My only complaint is the ball diameter must be at the upper end of tolerance, as it is difficult to connect and disconnect the trailer.

(More customer reviews)I secured the pin and lock very easily and it seemed like it was all set. I drove about 3 hours and checked it and it was fine. I drove another 3 hours and the lock piece was gone. So be very very very carefull when you put on the lock. I was very carefull and I was 100% sure it was on correctly. So check it several times to make sure it is definitely secure. The pin alone will still keep your item attached so there is no safety issue.

(More customer reviews)This is a hitch pin for a 1 1/4 inch receiver. It will not fit a 2 inch receiver. Small SUVs (Ford Escape for example) and cars with a hitch typically have 1 1 /4 receiver. Full size SUVs (Ford Explorer) and pick-ups typically have a 2 inch receiver.
If you are looking at the 1 1/4 to 2 inch adapter (which this item is normally recommended with) you will need one of these to attach the adapter to the 1 1/4 receiver on your vehicle. You will then also need a 5/8th pin to attach what ever else you have (luggage rack / bike rack for 2" receiver) to the adapter.

(More customer reviews)This lock works well and is a good value. I have a Ford Explorer sport truck. It's very hard to get the lock cover off and on, the electric plug makes it a tight fit. Once you get the hang of it, it's simple to do. On most of these type locks it's important to put some heavy grease inside the lock on the locking pin. This keeps the pin from rusting in place when it gets wet. I also turn the lock to position the pin on the top side so any rain will not run in the locking gear. If you are a boater you should do every time you launch or recover your boat.
