First and foremost the codeable feature worked well, however this lock can only be "coded" once; which means if you ever decide to change keys (rekey) you're out of luck. The lock itself is reasonably tough. It took me 15 minutes to drill it open and I was never able to force the cylinder with a screwdriver. The Achilles' heel to this product however is the shackle, which is too thin and can be snapped apart easily with bolt cutters. Given that you can only key this lock once and the thin shackle is a joke I must conclude that you'd do better (and save money) by purchasing one of the many "set your own combination" locks that are on the market.
