Draw-Tite 26102 Dual Cam High Performance Sway Control Review

Draw-Tite 26102 Dual Cam High Performance Sway Control
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I installed the Draw-Tite dual cam system in August 2010 on our 31' Coachman Chapparal Lite travel trailer, weighing 7400# loaded, and took the trailer on 2 trips totaling 1200 miles, towing it with a 2001 Silverado 1500 with 5.3 liter V8. The Draw-Tite Dual Cam and Reese Dual Cam systems are identical, and both are respected manufacturers and part of Towing Products, Inc.
In all situations, speeds, and terrains, and cross-winds, this dual cam system eliminated virtually all sway and most of the "push-pull" caused by big rigs passing us. Even at 75 mph on downhill curves (usually the worst situation for sway), I was able to maintain full control with no sway or "white knuckling". The dual cam system stops sway before it can begin, whereas other systems can only react after sway has become somewhat noticeable. It's also one of the very few sway controls that doesn't interfere with sharp turns and backing maneuvers.
Installation is fussy, and you should download the installation instructions from the Reese/Drawtite website before ordering this. It requires boring four 7/16" holes in the trailer A-frame at precise locations to mount the brackets that hold the dual cam assemblies. All required hardware is included, but you should have a 150# torque wrench and, a 1/2" electric drill, and a decent 1/2" ratchet set. It also requires some patience in making the final adjustments, but once done, hooking up the spring bars also hooks up the sway control. Unless you change tow vehicles or make major changes to the trailer load, it's unlikely you'll ever need to re-adjust the dual cam system.

Blue Ox BXW1500 Swaypro Hitch Review

Blue Ox BXW1500 Swaypro Hitch
Average Reviews:

I purchased the Blue Ox Swaypro Hitch after reading raving reviews about its performance. I followed the instructions to the 'T'. I have a 2007 Suburban with the receiver hitch mounted in the bumper and found that even installed at its lowest on the receiver bar it is 4 to 5" too high.

This is a no brainer way to mount your trailer sway bar to the trailer hitch tongue. Saves drilling 8 holes in the trailer hitch bar and can be adjusted for the correct sway bar distance just by loosening the bolts. Kind of expensive, but is quick and "fool proof".

Curt Manufacturing 55400 T-Connector Review

Be aware that this is no ten minute install. Sure, installing the t-connector to the rear tail lights is easy, but running the required black wire to your battery will not be. I couldn't get under the vehicle to secure the wire and running it inside was complicated. I'll be taking it to the shop lift to finish the install. Hassle and not cheap.

Reese Towpower 26003 Bolt-on Sway Control Adapter Review

Reese Towpower 26003 Bolt-on Sway Control Adapter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For anyone who only wants sway control on their trailer and not weight distribution, this item is a must. Traditionally you must have a metal plate that is usually included with a sway control kit welded onto your ball mount. With this bolt on adapter, you can avoid doing this and can switch this bolt on adapter plate between different drop/rise ball mounts by simply removing the main hitch ball, removing the adapter and remounting it on another ball mount of a different size.

I checked all over the net and this was the cheapest I could find. I have driven three full days with it connected to a large pop up trailer and it works extremely well. No sway at all. Also, it arrives with the full set up package, including the ball (this was not advertised). I'm very happy with it and recommend it highly.

Valley 75190 Sway Control Adapter Review

Valley 75190 Sway Control Adapter
Average Reviews:

Ordered this item to my house with 2 day shipping - arrived on schedule from Amazon. Directions fairly simple and was very easy to install. This device has eliminated almost all sway on my 25' coachman trailer. In Florida, our speed limit is 70MPH and I had very little sway after installing this unit on the highway. Would recommend to all users requiring sway control. Tip: Purchase a titanium drilling bit if you are planning to install this on a steel frame.

Total time on install was a little over an hour. This does require some welding and drilling.Tip: I did not use the bolts that were supplied with sway bar.I used 3/8"grade#5 bolts with flat and lock washers and nuts. Sway bar does a great job while pulling our pop up camper.

Curt Manufacturing 17200 Sway Control Kit Review

Curt Manufacturing 17200 Sway Control Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased my 'hunting camper' last year, which is a 19ft 1976 heavy beast...if you know what I mean. That first year, I pulled it with no sway control attached. It was fine until I got to about 60 mph and then it was moving my back-end around pretty good (1997 Chev Suburban is the puller). I thought I'd be taking a risk buying this ~$50 sway control kit mfg by Curt. This year we went hunting with the new sway control installed and it was awesome. I was cruising at 70 mph and I couldn't even tell the camper was there. This sway control kit is well worth the money and takes away the worry of having the old camper sway me right off the road.
