When the factory installed converter in my '00 4Runner failed and the local Toyota dealer told me the replacement would cost $200, my search for an aftermarket converter led me to this part.
Installation was simple, and the only "extra" I needed for the installation was a cable tie to secure the box inside the rear fender. All the connectors mated perfectly to the existing connectors in the car, and the converter worked as advertised and as expected.
Interestingly, my factory converter was installed on the left side of the car, and this Hoppy converter installs on the right side. As a result, you really can't reuse any of the factory wires-you have to route one new wire under the rear carpet and the new plug wire has to snaked from the hitch up into the fender - all very straightforward.

Great build quality and easy install, unless you have an 09 Yaris S 3door Liftback, I guess the rear bumpber is different(even though it is OEM)so it pushes up on the underside of the bumper causing it to lift and close the gap between the tail-lights and quarter panels. Will have to make or purchase some custom spacers (more cost) or cut the bottom of the bumper to release the stress...otherwise great hitch?

This hitch looks great on my 2007 RAV 4 Sport, positions just the right height for my trailers. It's a strong clean design that should last as long as my vehicle.
The hitch should install in 30 minutes or less, but mine took hours. The holes would not align with the vehicles, really far off. I called the tech support line, they said the hitch was likely dropped on end during shipping, and bent the hitch. The tech said this is a fairly common problem and the were looking to improve the shipping carton. Judging from the box damage, I'd say the shipper tossed it off a building. Support suggested using a jack to spread the hitch out again. Using blocks of wood and a hydraulic bottle jack after many tries I was able to bend it to the right size. The hitch suffered many scratches in the powder coat, so I top coated it with rustoleum paint, hope it holds up.
I like the way the hitch is put together, it's design won't trap water and salt to prompt rust like some other hitches, so hopefully this will outlast my vehicle. It would be nice if the designed a tab to mount the wiring on the hitch. If it wasn't bent and scratched, I would have rated this 5 stars.
