My hitch arrived with NO damage to the box whatsoever. Set aside a Saturday morning to do the install. Got the car jacked, and the exhaust hangers removed only to find that the hitch was severely bent from the factory. It was off by approx 2" from where it should line up on the frame, rendering it unusable. I contaced the Curt customer support who (of course) tried to blame the shipping company. I snapped pics of the box it arrived in, and the fact that there was no damage to the powder coating whatsoever and emailed customer support to demonstrate that the problem was caused during the manufacturing process. Customer service rep denied plausibility, but agreed to ship me out a new unit immediately. 2 hours of my time wasted.
Recieved the new unit within 48hrs (very happy with this). Attempted fitment once again. This unit was a lot better, but still not perfect.... Once again it didn't line up properly. I can leg press 600lbs at the gym, and it was all I could do to leg press this hitch into place while my friend bolted it up. I was sweating my a__ off, I had hot steel in my eyes, and my beer was warm... I was not happy. But eventually we got it installed.
Instructions say 45 min to install, when in actuality it took us 2.5hrs (and this was installing with 2 people, one of whom is a licensed mechanic, and all the necessary tools at our disposal)... My friend the mechanics verdict: "this is a mickey mouse rig"
So bottom line: I chose Curt over Hidden Hitch and Reese because I had heard the build quality was superior... I likely wouldn't even consider one again, but the adequate customer service may have me coming back.... We'll see
