Prior to purchasing this unit I was not able to accurately visualize how this step works by the photos and description of the product. The step fits over the receiver side of a 2" hitch (ball in place is mandatory) which then slides into the receiver. When the step is deployed the underside of the step gains its stability by resting on the tow ball in place. When towing you simply raise the step, engage the locking mechanism, hook up your tow, and away you go. It is a very handy item with a poorly written description of use. The step itself could be a little bigger but is adequate for the task it fulfills. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a cost effective bumper type of step and needs to tow as well as maintain access to their camper or truck bed.
